Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and deliver highway schemes, from complex D&B to safety upgrades, within our UK hubs (Cambridge, London, Basingstoke, Guildford or Southampton). The role offers a challenging development path and a collaborative, innovative culture.

You will lead design teams, coordinate technical queries, ensure compliance with DMRB, MCHW, TSRGD, CDM, and maintain records while driving cost-effective buildability across project stages.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure with competing priorities.
• Significant experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams on time and to budget.
• Experience applying CDM Regulations to projects to manage safety.

Responsibilities

• Drive communication across internal teams and stakeholders, chair design team meetings and ensure actions are completed.
• Identify and manage design risks.
• Coordinate design reviews and change control; resolve technical queries with cost and schedule context.
• Ensure designs comply with standards (DMRB, MCHW, TSRGD, Manual for Streets) and with CDM Regulations 2015.
• Maintain project records and promote buildability and value engineering across design stages.
