Job summary

IDEA Public Schools in Weslaco, Texas is seeking tutors to work with students in Road to and Through College classrooms. You will provide targeted objectives, guidance, and one-on-one attention during school hours.

The role offers an hourly rate of $12.50, with benefits including paid family leave, tuition reimbursement up to $5,250 annually, mental health resources, and additional wellness programs. A strong candidate has 48 college credits or two years of K-12 instructional experience.

Qualifications

• Education: minimum of 48 hours of college credit with a minimum 2.5 GPA OR two years of full-time instructional experience in a K-12 school may be substituted in lieu of the education requirement.
• Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Effective facilitation and use of technology to improve student achievement and manage tasks.
• Implement a clear behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives.
• Help shape a school-wide culture fostering productive learning environments.
• Establish cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
• Determine concepts to teach or retaught from student notes and discussions.
• Conduct tutorial sessions in math/science or language arts and humanities.
• Conduct mini-lessons across writing, study skills, and college preparation.
• Work with students in various phases of the writing process.
• Communicate with College counseling team regarding student progress.
• Host tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs; minimum 10–20 hours per week.
