GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Road Supervisor performs first-line supervisory work in the field to ensure that Hendrickson Transportation Group's rules and guidelines, and all applicable DOT and FTA regulations, are adhered to across CCRTA's paratransit and small bus operations. The Road Supervisor directs, monitors, and assists Drivers during all hours of revenue service; responds to vehicular collisions, accidents, and incidents; and supports the Dispatch office as needed. Road Supervisors are designated as excluded, non-bargaining-unit personnel under the Teamsters Local 657 collective bargaining agreement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor Drivers and vehicles on assigned routes throughout all hours of revenue service, directing and assisting Drivers as needed to maintain safe, efficient, on-time service.
Respond to all vehicular collisions, accidents, and incidents, and to customer-related accidents, incidents, or injuries requiring or requesting medical attention; conduct formal investigations and complete required reports in accordance with CCRTA requirements.
Supervise Operators, Dispatchers, and paratransit reservation/service agents while on duty; maintain sufficient street coverage within the service area to meet CCRTA response-time standards.
Perform on-time performance checks and ride-alongs to evaluate Drivers; complete appropriate reports and provide counseling or disciplinary action as needed.
Assist in completing National Transit Database (NTD) sampling reports.
Maintain working knowledge of all transit routes and general knowledge of paratransit operations; apply technical and operating knowledge of routes to improve efficiency, service, and safety.
Direct the proper completion of run assignments to ensure compliance with the CCRTA contract and company policies.
Cover Dispatcher duties as directed by the Operations Manager.
Comply with and enforce the Company's conduct, dress, grooming, and safety policies; attend all safety meetings and promote safety and customer satisfaction as overriding priorities.
Issue progressive discipline to Operators, Dispatchers, and other bargaining-unit personnel as needed to address noncompliance, unsafe actions, or other violations, including verbal and written warnings, consistent with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Provide motivation, commendation, guidance, and counseling to maintain a positive working environment.
Maintain communication with peers, supervisors, managers, and department heads to promote efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Deal courteously with the public and passengers, including answering multiple and repetitive inquiries.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer and employee information.
Complete daily Supervisor Reports and other reports as requested by management.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or General Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of verifiable experience in administration, supervision, or management.
License/Certification: Valid Texas Driver's License; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B preferred or as required for the position.
Knowledge of DOT and FTA requirements applicable to transit and paratransit services.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, and to deal effectively with all levels of employees, passengers, and members of the public, including individuals with disabilities.
Considerable knowledge of the street system and geography of the Corpus Christi service area.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as employee handbooks, operating and procedure manuals, and related FTA/DOT materials.
Ability to schedule, assign, and supervise the work of a group of employees.
Ability to complete accurate and comprehensive daily supervisor reports.
Availability to work non-traditional and rotating shift hours, including weekends, early/late hours, and traditional holidays.
Ability to maintain professionalism and comply with dress and grooming standards; bilingual English/Spanish skills desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed inside and outside the operations facility and in the field, with frequent exposure to extreme temperatures and weather elements, fumes, gases, dust, grease, smoke, oil, noise, and humidity. Requires sitting, walking, and climbing; the ability to lift 50 pounds and/or push/pull up to 80 pounds; and the ability to assist passengers in wheelchairs boarding or de-boarding vehicles. Requires close, distance, and peripheral vision with the ability to adjust focus; visual acuity (corrected) of 20/25 single eye and 20/20 both eyes, with red/yellow/green color vision for both day and night conditions; and the ability to be mobile, bend, stoop, stand, and climb ladders/stairs, with simultaneous use of both arms and feet.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
This is a full-time, non-bargaining-unit position. All job offers and continued employment are contingent upon successfully completing the following pre-employment activities:
Criminal history background check, including state and out-of-state criminal history review and National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) search.
Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check confirming an acceptable driving record: no more than two (2) moving violations or accidents in the preceding three (3) years, no more than one (1) DWI/DUI conviction in a lifetime, no DWI/DUI conviction in the preceding five (5) years, and no DWI/DUI conviction at any time while operating a commercial vehicle.
DOT medical (physical) examination and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen administered in accordance with FTA/DOT regulations (49 CFR Parts 40 and 655), followed by random, reasonable-suspicion, post-accident, and return-to-duty testing throughout employment.
Verification of a valid driver's license and, where required, a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
Completion of the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) clearance process issued by Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, required for access to restricted facilities or service areas.
Pre-employment job/physical agility evaluation, as applicable to the position.
