Granite Construction Incorporated is seeking a Road Roller Operator to drive heavy rolling machine and compact earth fills, subgrades, flexible base, and bituminous surface to grade specifications for highways, streets, and runways.

You will read engineering drawings, follow safety practices, work in dusty environments, and maintain alignment with project standards. A high school diploma or GED and proper certification are required, with physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Moves levers, depresses pedals, turns handwheels, and pushes throttle to control and guide machine.
• Drives machine in successive overlapping passes over surface to be compacted.
• Determines speed and direction of machine based on material compressibility and temperature.
• Pushes hand roller and pounds surfaces, or guides portable power roller over difficult areas.
• May be designated as Road-Roller Operator, Hot Mix; Subgrade-Roller Operator; or by power source.
