Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Behind the Wheel Instructor (BTWI) to prepare new drivers for the road with emphasis on safety and customer service. The BTWI provides coaching, builds rapport, and serves as a role model and mentor to new drivers, guiding them to be safe, efficient, and customer-focused in daily operations.

The BTWI acclimates trainees through shadowing, teaches core safety practices, and evaluates readiness for on-road responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience with Republic Services.
• No crashes or injuries for at least the past two years.
• No disciplinary actions in the preceding 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Acclimates new drivers to the physical and environmental demands of the job during Job Shadowing and provides foundational industry knowledge.
• Instructs on property driving skills, stretching and injury prevention techniques, and vehicle inspection.
• Trains on-route learning criteria, models Republic’s operating standards, and provides daily feedback to management.
• Completes required paperwork documenting the new employee’s progress and supports drivers in performing primary duties when not training.
