Job summary

Republic Services seeks a Behind the Wheel Instructor (BTWI) to prepare new drivers for the road, ensuring they can safely apply their skills. The BTWI provides critical feedback to management, develops rapport with new hires, and serves as a role model and mentor.

The primary goal is to develop drivers who are safe, efficient, and customer-focused. The BTWI mentors during shadowing and on-route training, coaches on safety, vehicle inspection, and on-property driving, and completes required

Qualifications

• Two years of experience with Republic Services.
• No crashes or injuries for at least the past two years.
• No disciplinary actions of any kind for the preceding 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Acclimates new drivers to the physical and environmental demands during Job Shadowing.
• Instructs and coaches drivers through on-property driving skills, stretching and injury prevention, and vehicle inspection.
• Models the Republic Way of operating a solid waste collection vehicle and provides feedback to management.
• Completes paperwork documenting the new employee’s progress and performs driver duties when not training a new driver.
