4LEAF, Inc. is seeking qualified building inspectors to serve Alameda or Santa Clara Counties in California. Inspectors must perform technical building inspections to enforce codes, with five years of industry experience preferred and ICC certification highly desired.

Must be able to travel and read plans, with field duties and safety compliance central to the role. DA, OSHPD and CASp certifications are highly desired; compensation ranges from $38.08 to $47.60 per hour, with typical schedule of

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, codes and ordinances relating to building construction.
• Understanding of safety standards, testing procedures and methods of construction.
• Principles and techniques of building inspection work.
• Basic understanding of the plan checking process.
• Computer knowledge and skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new buildings, additions, and alterations for compliance with adopted codes.
• Explain complex building issues to public, contractors, designers, and owners.
• Identify and solve problems by consulting with developers, engineers, and others regarding code requirements.
• Field questions regarding building requirements.
• Make independent analysis during inspections.
• Advise planning, engineering, or code enforcement personnel on building-related issues.
• Read and interpret various codes and apply good judgment in enforcement.
• Write clear correction notices and inspection reports.
• Analyze and check building plans, specifications, and codes.
• Enforce codes with good judgment and impartiality.
• Apply technical knowledge of building trades.
• Perform duties within OSHA standards.
