Job summary
Francis O Day Co. Inc. is seeking an experienced Milling Machine Sensor Operator to join our paving team.
You will operate milling machines and sensor systems to control depth, grade, and profile, collaborating closely with milling and paving crews in a fast-paced outdoor environment. RESPONSIBILITIES include monitoring readings, making adjustments to meet specs, performing inspections, and ensuring safety.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in asphalt milling, paving, or related heavy equipment operations.
- Experience with milling machine sensors, grade controls, or machine-control systems preferred.
- Familiarity with roadway grades, elevations, slopes, and milling depths.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with equipment operators and paving crews.
- Strong commitment to jobsite safety.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor asphalt milling machines and sensor systems.
- Maintain accurate milling depth, grade, slope, and roadway profile.
- Monitor machine-control and grade readings during milling operations.
- Make adjustments to meet specifications and production quality.
- Collaborate with milling foreman, operators, laborers, and paving crew.
- Identify roadway condition changes and report issues to the crew.
- Perform daily equipment and sensor inspections and basic troubleshooting.
