The ideal candidate has 3+ years of milling experience, a strong safety record, and the ability to coordinate with ground crews and truck drivers under tight schedules.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience operating cold milling machines on roadway or commercial projects preferred.
• Strong understanding of milling operations, including depth control, grade accuracy, and surface preparation.
• Experience with common milling machine brands such as Wirtgen, Cat, or Roadtec.
• Ability to read grades and follow milling plans within tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate cold milling machines to remove asphalt or concrete to specified depths and widths.
• Maintain proper grade, slope, and cross-slope using machine controls and grade guidance systems.
• Coordinate with ground crews, foremen, and haul truck drivers to maintain continuous production.
• Monitor cutting drum condition, teeth wear, conveyor operation, and water spray systems.
• Perform daily pre-operation inspections and operator care tasks on milling machines.
• Adjust milling speed, depth, and drum performance based on material conditions and job requirements.
• Ensure clean, uniform milling surfaces and smooth transitions at joints and tie-ins.
• Identify mechanical issues or performance concerns and report them promptly.
