Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, read signs and enter reports.
• Experience operating a truck, tractor or heavy equipment preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL may be required within 180 days.
• Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing required; safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Mow and landscape highway right-of-ways using large tractors and gang mowers.
• Operate single-axle dump trucks and other heavy equipment.
• Use power tools and hand tools for highway repairs.
• Load/unload materials such as salt, sand, cement and chemicals.
• Flag traffic and assist with signs and cones for work zones.
• Respond to emergencies and work under all weather conditions.
