Job summary

Gila County is seeking a semi-skilled operator to perform construction, repair, and maintenance of roads and related facilities in Payson, AZ. The role includes operating a variety of equipment, assisting landfill operations, and ensuring safety and proper material handling.

The employee may work in Roads Division or Recycling & Landfill Division as needed. Responsibilities include grading, paving, ditch work, and coordinating with inmate work detail.

Qualifications

• Must be able to operate a range of road construction and landfill equipment safely.
• Experience with front end loaders, backhoes, bulldozers, graders, paving machines, street sweepers, transfer trucks and compactors is preferred.
• Demonstrates strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate road construction and landfill equipment per safety procedures.
• Grade roads, pave asphalt, repair roads and maintain ditches and culverts.
• Direct traffic control and support landfill customer operations.
• Haul materials and transport equipment to job sites.
• Inspect and perform routine checks on trucks and heavy equipment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
