Job summary

Bexar County seeks an Equipment Operator II to operate road construction equipment, apply asphalt, and perform routine maintenance at the Public Works Judson Service Center. The position is full-time, primarily outdoors, with potential Overtime and on-call duties. Safety awareness and reliable teamwork are essential for daily operations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED certificate and two years' experience operating light to medium road construction equipment
• Knowledge of mechanical operations of road equipment and maintenance of equipment used in road construction and striping
• Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs and follow safety standards and procedures

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment including mowers, shredders, forklifts, sweepers, rollers, loaders, fuel trucks, and dump trucks for roadways and facilities
• Prepares and applies asphalt using mechanized and non-mechanized equipment
• Completes service checks, maintenance and minor repairs of road equipment
• Performs safety procedures at construction sites and directs traffic when needed
• Maintains administrative logs, forms and reports
• Assists in on-the-job training of less experienced staff
• May supervise other employees in road construction tasks
