Job summary

The State of Louisiana's Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an Engineering Technician Consultant in the Road Design section at DOTD Headquarters, based in Baton Rouge. You will help develop roadway construction plans for projects from rural highways to urban freeways and interchanges.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans for compliance with DOTD design standards, supporting quality control, cost estimates, final plan assembly, and assisting with design staff training.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 4+ years sub-professional engineering experience.
• 24 semester hours in architecture, drafting, engineering, construction management or related fields.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology.

Responsibilities

• Develop roadway construction plans in the Road Design squad for projects from rural highways to urban freeways and interchanges.
• Review plans for compliance with DOTD design standards.
• Assist with quality control, construction cost estimates and final plan assembly.
• Assist with training of design staff.

Education

HS diploma or GED + 4+ yrs sub-prof eng exp

6 mos sub-prof eng exp or heavy equipment + 4 yrs sub-prof eng exp

24 sem hrs in eng-related fields

Bachelor's in eng/tech or construction field
