Job summary

Doña Ana County is seeking a qualified heavy equipment operator to join our road construction and maintenance team. You will operate a range of heavy machines, read construction plans, and ensure drainage and roadway areas are maintained to specifications.

The role requires a CDL Class A with endorsements preferred, and a minimum of four years in construction, including two years in heavy equipment operators. Background checks and drug testing are standard part of the process.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years full-time experience in a general construction environment, with at least two years in heavy equipment operations.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A is required; Endorsements preferred (H, T, P, N, X).
• Background checks, pre-employment drug and alcohol test, and driving record check may be conducted.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment and perform construction/maintenance work on roads, bridges, and drainage.
• Read plans, check grades, and maintain stakes per plans.
• Haul materials and transport equipment to job sites; perform routine inspections.
• Complete required logs and reports for tasks performed and materials used.
• Adhere to safety regulations and company policies; may work irregular hours or overtime.
