Job summary

Thecolumbuspage is seeking a Roads Operator to operate and maintain a variety of light and heavy equipment used on county roads, bridges, drainage systems, and other public infrastructure. You will ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with county and state regulations.

Essential duties include operating graders, backhoes, bulldozers, dump trucks and snowplows; performing routine and emergency maintenance; conducting daily inspections; and maintaining logs of work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license.
• Valid Class A CDL required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a range of road maintenance equipment including graders, backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, dump trucks, snowplows, and related machinery.
• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on county roads, including pothole patching, grading gravel, debris removal, and culvert/ditch upkeep.
• Conduct winter maintenance such as snow plowing, sanding, and salting.
• Daily inspections and basic maintenance of assigned equipment (oil, fluids, tire pressure, etc.).
• Maintain safe work zones by setting up signs, barricades, and traffic controls as needed.
