Job summary

Harris County Precinct 4 is hiring an Operator to maintain roadways and bridges, including reconstruction, tree trimming, debris removal, pothole repair, sign installation, and ditching. The role requires working outdoors on active construction sites with safety as a priority, and operation of varied heavy equipment.

CDL is required within 3 months of employment. Regular full-time, 40 hours weekly, with potential weekend work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Work diligently in a fast-paced environment with a strong commitment to safety.
• Perform road and drainage maintenance: road reconstruction, tree trimming, storm debris removal, pothole repair, sign installation, ditching.
• Operate light and heavy construction equipment (e.g., pickup trucks, excavator, rollers, street sweepers, dump trucks, vacuum/jet truck, loaders, backhoes, power tools).
• Conduct routine maintenance including inspections, fluid checks, repairs, and cleaning of offices and equipment.
• Assist with setting up road signs, barricades, flagging, directing traffic, and using hand tools.
• Handle road materials such as asphalt, oils, gravel, limestone, concrete, and crack sealer; pickup trash and maintain restrooms.
