Job summary

Providence Portland Medical Center is seeking a RN - Wound Ostomy for a per diem part-time day shift, covering weekdays and weekends. The Wound Ostomy Nurse serves as a clinical resource for acute and rehabilitative care of patients with wounds, ostomies, and related skin injuries across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, clinical consultation, education, and participation in committees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
• Oregon Registered Nurse License required upon hire.
• Current BLS certification required upon hire.
• CWON certification or obtain CWON within 12 months of hire.
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience, preferably including wound and ostomy care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient and outpatient care for wounds, ostomies, and related skin conditions.
• Serve as clinical resource and consultant for GI, GU, and integumentary disorders.
• Educate patients, families, and staff; participate in research and administrative activities.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in hospital committees.
• Support regional patient care initiatives and quality improvement efforts.

Job description

RN - Wound Ostomy at Providence Portland Medical Center is a per diem part ime position working during weekdays and weekends on a day shift.

The hospital-based Wound Ostomy Nurse serves as a clinical resource and consultant for the acute and rehabilitative care of patients with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems such as acute and chronic wounds (e.g., complex draining wounds, fistulae, pressure ulcers, vascular ulcers) ostomies, percutaneous tubes, and moisture related skin injuries. Professional responsibilities are carried out through direct patient care, clinical consultation, education, research, and administration. The Wound Ostomy Nurse provides inpatient and outpatient clinical services throughout the hospital, including the Emergency Department and Wound/Ostomy Care Clinic. The Wound Ostomy Nurse also serves on several regional patient care committees.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Upon hire: Oregon Registered Nurse License
• Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
• Upon hire: Current certification in wound ostomy nursing, dual specialty (CWON) by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board; or obtain CWON certification within 12 months of hire
• 2 years recent acute care nursing experience, preferably including wound and ostomy care.
