Job summary

Logan Health Whitefish is seeking a confident and caring PRN Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical team in the scenic Whitefish, Montana. Our 14-bed unit focuses on collaboration and patient-centered care with opportunities for night and weekend differential pay.

As part of a Planetree affiliate hospital, you will work with a multidisciplinary team, perform comprehensive nursing care, and support discharge planning while maintaining HIPAA and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Active Montana RN license or compact license to practice in Montana.
• BSN degree preferred.
• RQI Provider (BLS) within 7 days of hire or before independent patient care.

Responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to provide care and ensure quality.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient needs.
• Perform safe medication administration and accurate documentation.
• Mentor new staff and students; support discharge planning and continuity of care.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and a clean, therapeutic environment.

About our Unit:

Our 14-bed Medical Surgical unit offers a fast-paced and collaborative environment focused on delivering exceptional care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical needs. With a strong surgical population including joint replacements, orthopedic procedures, and general and urologic surgeries, our team works closely with providers, therapists, and hospitalists to ensure continuity and excellence in care. We prioritize teamwork, communication, whole-person healing, and a model of care that places the patient experience at the center. Daily multidisciplinary rounds and close collaboration with physical therapy help us keep patients moving and healing.

Qualifications:

Current Montana RN license or a multi state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required. BSN degree preferred. BSN degree preferred. RQI Provider (BLS) within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first.

Job Specific Duties:

Applies professional nursing using the nursing process and adheres to therapeutic and regulatory standards to ensure quality care. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to resolve patient needs and prioritizes timely nursing care based on individualized care plans. Safely performs technical procedures, medication administration, and completes accurate documentation and patient hand-offs per protocols. Precepts and mentors new staff and students, supports patient teaching, and ensures smooth discharge planning and continuity of care. Conducts chart audits for quality improvement and manages malfunctioning equipment promptly and appropriately. Maintains patient privacy, dignity, and a clean, comfortable environment while strictly observing HIPAA regulations. Schedule:

Shift: Variable - 12 Hours (United States of America) Schedule: PRN, Typically works 12-hour night shifts on variable days of the week, and will be required to work weekend shift and holiday shift rotation. Day shifts also may be included. Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed. PRN positions (also referred to as Casual, As Needed, or Per Diem) at Logan Health offer flexibility and are designed to provide coverage during busy periods, employee absences, and vacations, making them an excellent opportunity to support the team as needed. PRN employees can participate in a matching 401(k) plan and have access to the Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, they may qualify for hourly differential pay for certain shifts or hours, offering extra compensation based on department-specific scheduling needs. Pay rates and scheduling practices may vary by department.
