Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, MO is seeking a Cardiac Med Intermediate RN for the Weekender role (24 hours per week, Days). The unit is a PCU, a step down from ICU with emphasis on cardiac and acute respiratory care, no vents.

Strong assessment and teamwork are essential to navigate busy ED/ICU-like dynamics. Required education includes a nursing degree (ASN/ADN/BSN) and an active RN license in Missouri or a compact state, plus BLS certification.

• RN licensure in hiring state and/or compact licensure required.

Graduate Nurse Sign On Bonus $5,000 Experienced Nurse Sign On Bonus $10,000 Cardiac Med Intermediate RN - Weekender 24 hours per week, Days Mercy Hospital Jefferson Festus, MO 63028 We are also known as the Progressive Care Unit or PCU. Our unit is an intermediate unit that is a step down from our intensive care but a step above med/surg as far as patient acuity Cardiac, Respiratory distress, Septic. No vents. - Mainly serve cardiac patients, also acute respiratory (no vents/but high flow ) 02 needs/new bipap, etc. then mix of any other disease process in which the physicians determine patient is too sick for floor; but not yet ICU level of care. Fast paced unit combining aspects of ED and ICU into one department--busyness of ED & critical care aspect of ICU. Requires and builds strong assessment skills and teamwork

Qualifications

Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN). Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements. Certifications:

• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
