Job summary

University Hospitals in Willoughby, OH, is seeking a Weekender RN to provide safe, efficient nursing care on an aging patient population unit. You will work two 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM Friday to 7:00 AM Monday, earning 1.5× your regular hourly rate for those weekend hours.

Sign-on bonus is $3000. Weekenders receive full-time medical and dental benefits, with eligibility for other benefits at part-time levels. Strong clinical skills and dedication to PHI protection are essential.

Qualifications

Diploma in Nursing or ADN required.
RN license (Ohio and/or Multi-State Compact) required upon hire.
BLS required upon hire; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on unit.
Knowledge of nursing process and use of standard monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

Provide safe, age-specific nursing care using the nursing process.

Job description

Weekender Program – Salary and Schedule Overview

Individuals hired for a Weekender position are required to work two (2) 12-hour shifts between 7:00 PM Friday and 7:00 AM Monday. In return for this commitment, Weekenders will be compensated at 1.5 times their regular hourly rate for these shifts. Individuals in Weekender roles qualify for full-time medical and dental benefits, whereas eligibility for all other benefits is at part-time levels.

The UH Lake West Step Down Unit is a fast paced 30 bed unit that specializes in providing care to stable but critically ill patients of varying acuity. This unit is comprised of both private and semi-private rooms which are broken down into three Pods.

A Brief Overview

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Implements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship based nursing care.

Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education

Other Accredited Program: Diploma in Nursing or
(ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
(BSN) Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
(MN) Master in Nursing (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire) and
Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
