Job summary

Southtowns Care Center in Buffalo, NY is seeking an experienced RN Unit Manager for our Rehab Unit to lead a dedicated nursing team and ensure high-quality resident care.

You will supervise RNs and CNAs, develop individualized care plans, and maintain documentation while fostering a compassionate, compliant environment aligned with our values of dignity and respect for residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Valid, current RN license.
• At least one year of supervisory experience in long-term care.
• Knowledge of nursing practices and regulations in long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
• Supervises staff nurses and CNAs to ensure quality of care and timely documentation.
• Develops individualized, comprehensive care plans for residents.
• Addresses resident and staff concerns to promote quality care.
• Rounds on resident rooms to observe and evaluate residents’ physical and emotional state.

As an RN Unit Manager at our facility, you would be part of an outstanding professional team doing meaningful work to improve the quality of life, health, and comfort of our residents.

Unit Manager Responsibilities

DUTIES:

• Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
• Completes Resident care requirements by scheduling and assigning nurses and staff
• Establishes a compassionate environment by providing support to Residents and families.
• Provides information to Residents and health care team.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment.
• Maintains Resident confidence by monitoring confidential information processing.
• Maintains documentation of Resident care services.
• Maintains nursing supplies inventory
• Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams
• Develops an individualized comprehensive care plan
• Maintains timely documentation of patients
• Maintains supervision of staff and facility
• Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identities any issues that affect desired resident outcomes
• Assess, review, and maintain that daily resident care needs are met, and appropriate resident care is given.
• Address resident and staff concerns to promote quality care.
• Supervise staff nurses and CNAs to ensure their completion and quality of duties.
• Make rounds of resident rooms to observe and evaluate resident’s physical/emotional state.
• Review order and care plans.
• Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
• Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Valid, current RN license
• Must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures, and/or terminology, laws, regulations, and the guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
• At least one-year experience in a supervisory capacity in a long-term care facility.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
