Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse to serve as RN Unit Manager for the Developmental Services division, with two or more years of experience working with adults with disabilities. The position offers a $5,000 hiring bonus.

Responsibilities include assessments, utilizing the nursing process to guide IPP objectives, supervising LPNs, training staff, and coordinating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure health and safety of clients.

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN licensure in Virginia or Compact designation; 2+ years clinical experience.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• Safety-sensitive role with mandatory drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Assess clients biologically, psychologically, and socially.
• Use nursing process to guide IPP objectives.
• Collaborate with IDT and health professionals to meet IPP goals and client welfare.
• Provide training to non-licensed staff on healthcare and medication administration.
• Supervise LPNs and conduct performance evaluations.
• Quality assurance review of healthcare records for each client.
• Participate in training, meetings, and community engagements to support residents in the ICF.
• Establish work schedules, monitor overtime, and report to Nurse Manager about leave usage.
• Provide on-call RN coverage on a rotating basis with the team.
