Job summary

South Port Square in Port Charlotte, FL, is seeking an RN Unit Manager to oversee nursing care during the shift, including med administration, documentation, and emergency calls. This full-time role includes a 8 AM-4:30 PM schedule and a $80,000 salary, with benefits and a supportive team.

Responsibilities include supervising direct care, rounds, care plan development, documentation accuracy, and collaboration with physicians and families to ensure safe, compassionate care for residents.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. RN with a current license in Florida.
• At least 6 months experience in a long-term care setting.
• Supervisory experience.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Can generate a warm, friendly, and caring manner on first impression.
• Can communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Supervises direct care of residents and nursing personnel on his/her shift.
• Administers direct care as necessary.
• Gives and receives shift reports.
• Rounds twice a shift to assure proper care is rendered in a safe and clean environment.
• Keeps physicians and families aware of changes in resident’s condition.
• Assists in developing comprehensive care plans.
• Maintains accurate documentation of all care rendered.
• Responds to resident emergency call system.
• Interfaces with other disciplines to assure continuity of care and services.
• Accompanies physicians when making rounds.
• Encourages restorative care in order to obtain maximum resident independence.
• Participates in family/resident counseling as necessary.
• Assists with the orientation and evaluation of nursing personnel.
• Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
• Assures proper functioning of equipment and adequate supplies.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
