Medical Center SE Texas Port Arthur is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to lead nursing activities on a unit for each shift, coordinating patient care and acting as advocate for patients and families. The role emphasizes adherence to nursing processes, safety, and policy compliance within a collaborative team setting.

Responsibilities include assigning care based on acuity, promoting a culture of safety, and mentoring staff.

Competenze

• 1–2 years of Medical/Surgical/ICU/ED/OR/PACU/OPS/NICU experience preferred.
• Current RN licensure in Texas.
• Unit-specific certifications (e.g., BLS, CPI) required or encouraged.
• NIHS Scale, stroke education, cardiac education and ortho education as per department competencies.

• Make patient care assignments based on patient acuity and staff competency, ensuring collaborative nurse–patient relationships.
• Promote patient-centered safety culture with teamwork and clear communication.
• Evaluate and modify patient care assignments as needed for safety and quality.
• Demonstrate clinical reasoning to reprioritize patient/unit needs and intervene as required.
• Assist in orientation and supervision of agency/temporary staff and new nurses.
• Coordinate communication among patients, families, physicians, and care teams about changes in condition, tests, safety, and satisfaction.
• Delegate tasks to ensure patient safety and adherence to policies; activate Chain of Command when needed.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, CMS, OSHA, and state regulations.
