Job summary

UF Health is seeking a qualified triage nurse to respond to patient inquiries by phone, assess urgency, schedule appointments, and provide limited health education per established protocols.

Responsibilities include triage intake and scheduling across multiple providers, documenting encounters in the EMR, processing medication refills, and coordinating with primary care or specialty clinics to ensure timely follow-up.

Qualifications

• 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse required.
• Associates degree in nursing required.
• Travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Screens and responds to patient phone calls, directing to Primary Care or Specialty provider or clinic staff as needed.
• Triage intake and scheduling protocols for multiple providers.
• Furnishes medical advice per approved triage protocol.
• Schedules urgent appointments, based on necessity and acuity, by offering the earliest appointment available with each provider.
• Enters necessary information into EMR and other systems as required.
• Accurately documents each telephone encounter with the patient in the EMR for continuity of care.
• Provides appropriate follow up to encounters as necessary. Monitors task documentation to ensure completion within organizational standards.
• Process medication refills as per protocol.
