Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, TX is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse for the Trauma Progressive Care Unit. The unit is a 38-bed telemetry monitored floor with high-acuity adult and geriatric patients, offering diverse surgical and trauma care experiences.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of RN School of Nursing.
  • ADN required.
  • Active RN License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Care for trauma patients on a high-acuity 38-bed telemetry unit.
  • Collaborate with inter-disciplinary teams to manage complex post-trauma cases (intra-thoracic, intra-abdominal, Bowel, Bariatric, colorectal surgeries).
  • Provide post-operative care for trauma, urology, neurosurgery, vascular and general surgery patients.
  • Monitor patients using telemetry and respond to critical changes in patient status.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse to join our Trauma Progressive Care Unit. Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital is a 636-bed specialty care teaching hospital and the only Level 1 Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin.

Unit Summary

This is a 38-bed Telemetry Monitored Nursing Unit. Working on 5 North gives you the unique opportunity to work with both Adults and Geriatrics. Working on 5 North, you can expect your clinical skills to become greater than ever imagined due to the high acuity of patients and variety of scope which include:

  • Post ICU Trauma patients (serious injury to 2 or more body systems)
  • Traumatic Intra-Thoracic injury, intrabdominal injury, and complex fractures
  • Traumatic Musculoskeletal Wounds
  • Complex Cholecystectomy and Appendectomy
  • Bariatric Surgery
  • Colorectal Surgery (bowel malignancies, inflammatory bowel disease)
  • Thoracic Surgeries- lobectomy, Esophagostomy
  • Urology- Prostatectomy
  • Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery

Requirements Of The Ideal Candidate
  • Graduate of RN School of Nursing
  • ADN required
  • Active RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer

  • Specialized field of study should be nursing.
  • RN license.
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
