Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse to serve as an Organ Procurement Coordinator in Lifesharing. You will evaluate potential donors, guide families, manage donor care, and coordinate with transplant teams across San Diego and Imperial Counties.

The role requires an RN license in California, recent organ procurement experience, and strong clinical plus communication skills. The position is 50% time and on-site at Mission Valley with rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months.
• Two years of organ procurement/recovery experience.
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving to manage multiple levels of information.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; empathy and kindness to staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site evaluation of potential organ and tissue donors and guide families through donation decisions.
• Manage donor care to assure organ viability and locate recipients for transplantable organs.
• Collaborate with ICU staff, physicians, and transplant teams to recover organs for transplant.
• Liaise with hospital personnel and provide educational programs to facilitate donation.
