Job summary

UAB Medicine seeks a dedicated nurse coordinator to lead evaluation and preparation of transplant candidates and donors. You will coordinate waiting list activities, prep patients for surgery, and ensure post-transplant care with the care team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing and three years of related experience required.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required or obtained within 30 days of employment. ACLS/PALS may be required depending on the unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the evaluation of potential candidates or living donors for transplantation, including adding patients to the transplant waiting list and preparing patients for transplantation.
• Serve as primary contact for patients, physicians, pharmacies, and insurance companies and coordinate care around transplant.
• Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and maintain program statistics.
