Job summary

USC Verdugo Hills Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to support the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the patient care team, ensuring safety, recovery, and comfort for patients through the nursing process. You will contribute to quality improvement, collaborate with departments, and mentor new staff.

The role requires full scope nursing practice, strong assessment and planning, and education for patients and families. Certifications such as BLS/ACLS/PALS are expected as per unit needs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from Registered Nurse Program.
• BSN desired (if not upon hire, will obtain within 5 years preferred).
• 1 year clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• If applicable - experience in treating ortho and stroke patient population preferred.
• 1 year nursing experience in an acute care setting such as ICU/stepdown/ER preferred.
• 1 year+ IR, EP, or Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred.
• Two years' experience with Orthopedic and Medical-Surgical nursing preferred.
• Certification in clinical specialty or management desired.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications as applicable.
• All certifications must be active effective date of hire/transfer unless otherwise indicated.

Responsibilities

• Planning: Assists charge nurse with planning delivery of patient care for the shift; Contributes to overall unit planning and improvement.
• Directing: Precepting and competency validating new hires and to new procedures; Teaching nursing students.
• Delegating: As indicated to other RNs, LVNs, CNAs.
• Coordinating: Assigned team; Communicating expectations to staff; Monitoring interventions; reporting unusual events.
• Improvement opportunities; information through chain of command; Other duties as assigned.
