Located in Long Beach, Dignity Health - St. Mary Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver compassionate, high-quality care across acute settings.

You will perform assessments, implement care plans, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to promote optimal patient outcomes. The role emphasizes patient safety, timely interventions, and family engagement, with requirements including an active California RN license, BLS, ACLS, and at least one year of acute telemetry

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of medication exam and unit orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and interpret age-specific data to guide care.
  • Involve patient, family, and significant other in planning and education.
  • Perform priority procedures safely within scope of practice.
  • Efficiently and effectively perform procedures with optimal resource use.
  • Serve as a resource for procedures across the assigned patients.
  • Identify unsafe care practices and take timely corrective action.

  • Demonstrates ability to assess/interpret age‑specific data.
  • Encourages involvement of patient/family/significant other in decision making related to plan of care: 1. identifies patient/caregiver teaching needs 2. identifies patient safety issues 3. Identifies patient comfort / pain issues
  • Performs the priority procedures for the assigned patients or areas safely - without causing harm legally - within the scope of practice and SMMC policy and in a manner perceived as satisfying by the patient and family.
  • Performs all procedures for the assigned patients or areas: 1. efficiently - using the fewest possible resources 2. effectively - achieving the intended results
  • Acts as a resource for all procedures for the assigned patients or areas.
  • Identifies actual and potentially unsafe care practices, initiates actions as appropriate to prevent or correct and reports in a timely manner.
Job Requirements
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
  • Current basic life support (AHA-BLS) certification
  • Current advanced cardiac life support (AHA-ACLS).
  • Minimum of one year Acute Care Telemetry RN experience.
  • Completion of a Telemetry class preferred
  • Successful completion of a medication examination and satisfactory completion of department/unit specific orientation.
