Description:Unit focuses on medical-surgical and telemetry patients.Patients typically include those with total joint replacements, cardiac rule-outs, pneumonia, psychiatric conditions, and post-operative general surgery cases.Nurses are responsible for reading telemetry strips and managing titratable drips.Charge nurses are available, and nursing aides assist with patient care.The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5.The unit utilizes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment.Nurses may float to medical telemetry, progressive care units, or intensive care units as needed.Shifts require every other weekend commitment and rotating holiday responsibilities.The charting system used is Epic.Nurses will undergo a department-specific orientation which may be shortened based on experience.Cancellation policy allows for up to four shifts to be canceled during the 13-week assignment.
