Qualifications

• BLS/CPR certification (AHA/ARC) required within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care per ANA standards and nursing process steps (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Provide holistic patient care for surgical unit patients across bariatric, general, urologic, and colorectal surgeries.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.
• Promote patient and staff satisfaction and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

About This Unit

4H is a 22-bed Surgical Specialties Unit caring for patients undergoing bariatric, general, urologic, and colorectal surgeries. Nurses care for a broad range of surgical patients, from those requiring brief post-operative stays to those navigating more complex recoveries. As an accredited Bariatric Surgery Center, 4H is recognized for outstanding patient outcomes and a strong commitment to quality improvement. Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
