Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, VA is seeking a Progressive Care Registered Nurse to coordinate and deliver high quality, patient-centered care pre- and post-operatively. You will collaborate with providers to support an exceptional patient experience and advocate for patients and families.

In this role, you will assess changes in patient status, perform physician-ordered procedures, document care promptly, administer medications, and maintain knowledge of cardiac- and medical-surgical care

Qualifications

• RN required for Surgical PCU role.
• ACLS within 1 year of start date.
• BCLS within 30 days of start date.
• Associate or Bachelor degree in nursing or RN diploma.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition at admission and each shift.
• Perform procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Document care in the medical record promptly.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor response.
• Maintain knowledge of meds and equipment for cardiac/medical-surgical patients.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role:

• Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
• Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

What qualifications you will need:

• (RN) Registered Nurse
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma
