Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse caregiver for the Neurological Institute. You will provide direct patient care, document in medical records, and work within a multidisciplinary team to support patients with complex brain and spine conditions.

Orientation lasts six months with Monday–Friday hours; after orientation, typical shifts run 9:00am–7:30pm with on‑call rotations. New grads and experienced RNs welcome.

Qualifications

Now, the Neurological Institute is expanding with a new state-of-the-art facility which will include additional operating rooms and ambulatory, infusion, imaging, EMG and sleep and brain study services. Operating on the brain requires extreme precision, and the neurosurgery team at Cleveland Clinic has years of training and experience in the most complex brain and spine surgeries. The neurosurgery team uses state-of-the-art tools to operate safely and, as often as possible, with minimally invasive techniques. This team treats a wide range of conditions affecting the brain and spine, including brain hematoma, cavernoma, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak, Chiari malformation, epilepsy, facial pain, normal pressure hydrocephalus, pseudotumor cerebri, skull base dehiscence and subdural hematoma.

A caregiver in this role will work days and require call. Orientation is 6 months working Monday through Friday, from 7:00am to 3:30pm. After orientation, an available shift will be 9am-7:30pm. The required call rotation is: 2 call shifts (weeknight or weekend) per month and 1-2 holidays per year.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on surgery core learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60
