Corewell Health's Trenton Hospital in Michigan is seeking a part-time Nurse Supervisor to coordinate nursing staff and patient care across urgent, inpatient and operative services. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) Required.
  • Master's Degree Preferred.
  • Three years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required.
  • One year of relevant formal nursing leadership experience required for external applicants Required.
  • One year of relevant demonstrated informal leadership experience required for internal applicants, may include but are not limited to: Charge Lead Nurse, Charge Nurse responsibilities, leadership on behalf of unit/site/system at Shared Governance Council Required.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate personnel and resources to meet patient care functions of the organization in a cost-effective manner.
  • Collaborate to provide crisis management, interpret policy and procedure, and assure timely and effective communication and collaboration between individuals and departments.
  • Represent the organizational leadership across all venues on a 24-hour basis and collaborate to make decisions on behalf of the leadership team.
  • Coordinate the routine flow of scheduled, direct, and emergency patient admissions to efficiently place patients in the appropriate care location, maximize capacity, and improve satisfaction.
  • Promote communication at all levels and collaborate with care management, the medical staff, and the interdisciplinary team to promote smooth, timely, and efficient patient throughput.
  • Uphold professional standards of care by demonstrating leadership skills and a high level of clinical competency while striving to achieve the system Mission and Vision.

About Trenton Hospital This Magnet®-designated facility provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for its patients and is one of four recipients of the Truven Health Advantage Award in the category of Health and Clinical Outcomes. It is home to nine university affiliated residency programs. Here, you will find a Level II trauma center that is a nationally recognized heart, vascular and pulmonary specialties along with other specialties like orthopedics, neurosurgery, and women's health.

Scope of Work

Scope of work The Nurse Supervisor coordinates and organizes personnel and other resources to meet the patient care functions of the organization, in a cost-effective manner. Collaborates to provide crisis management, interpret policy and procedure, and assure timely and effective communication and collaboration between individuals and departments. The Nurse Supervisor represents the organizational leadership across all venues on 24-hour basis and collaborates to make decisions an act on behalf of the leadership team.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures the continuous and timely availability of urgent care, emergency, inpatient, and operative services to patients and families.
  • Continuously monitors daily operations by integrating data from electronic systems, personal communication, and physical unit rounds to assure patient care effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction.
  • Ensures the safety and quality of patient care by allocating and redirecting resources, considering care demands related to acuity, patient and unit requirements and staff skill mix.
  • Coordinates the routine flow of scheduled, direct, and emergency patient admissions to efficiently place patients in the appropriate care location, maximize capacity, improve satisfaction of patients, families and referring providers.
  • Coordinates the organizational response during times of high census: collaborating with administrators and nursing directors, the Emergency Department, Surgery Department, Critical Care, Cath Lab and Inpatient Nursing Units.
  • Promotes communication at all levels.
  • Collaborates with care management, the medical staff, and the interdisciplinary team to promote smooth, timely, and efficient patient throughput.
