Job summary

Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids is seeking a Nurse Supervisor for the 4S Neuro/Neurosurgical unit. You will oversee clinical care, staffing, and operations for general neurology and complex neurosurgical patients, including spine and brain tumor cases.

The role requires a BSN, Michigan RN license, and 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with leadership experience preferred. Night shift, full-time position, with on-call responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is required.
• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
• 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience required.
• 2 years of recent leadership experience preferred (e.g., Charge Nurse, Magnet Champion).
• MI RN license required.
• AHA or ARC BLS required.
• AHA ACLS required (within 180 days).
• Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification to be obtained within 12 months of role.

Responsibilities

• Assumes shift accountability for managing, supervising, and coordinating the operational and financial effectiveness of the nursing unit.
• May be required to be available for on-call to support the nursing service/unit.
• May fill-in for hospital supervisor as needed.
• Provide clinical support and lead unit-based goal setting.
• Develop programs and manage fiscal resources for the unit.
• Ensure standards of care and interpretation of policies and procedures.
• Drive performance improvement and coaching/mentoring.

About This Unit

4 South is a 44-bed Progressive Neurosurgical unit. In this role, you will play a key part in caring for both general neurology and complex neurosurgical patients.

Our neurosurgical population includes highly complex cases such as spine surgery patients and individuals undergoing craniotomy or craniectomy for brain tumor resection, removal, or debulking. We also care for patients receiving elective aneurysm interventions.

Our general neurology patient population includes individuals experiencing acute stroke, seizures, chronic headaches, and other neurological disorders. These include conditions such as Guillain‑Barré Syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and myasthenia gravis exacerbations.

Scope of Work

Assumes shift accountability for managing, supervising, and coordinating the operational and financial effectiveness and efficiency of the nursing service/ unit of the hospital. Some service lines may require the ability to be available for on-call to better support the nursing service/unit. Additionally, Inpatient Supervisors may be required to fill-in for the hospital supervisor as needed. Key responsibilities include:

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) Required.
• Master's Degree nursing (MSN) Preferred.
• 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required.
• 2 years of recent relevant leadership experience (e.g., Charge Nurse, Shared Leadership position, Magnet Champion, QSO) Preferred.
• MI RN license Required.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) 180 days Required.
• Corewell Health Nurse Supervisors are required to obtain their Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification within 12 months of assuming the role.
