Corewell Health’s Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the 4S Neuro/Med Surg unit. You will deliver high‑quality nursing care to general neurology and neurosurgical patients, following the ANA nursing process and state regulations.

The role involves nights, 36 hours per week, self-scheduling, and every‑other weekend. Associates in Nursing required, with a BSN preferred within 5 years; Michigan RN license and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing or higher required.
• Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years preferred.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required; BLS required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care following the ANA nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Deliver safe, high‑quality care for general neurology and neurosurgical patients.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and clinical judgment in a busy Neuro/Med‑Surg unit.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

About The Unit

4 South is a 44 bed Progressive Neurosurgical unit located in Butterworth. In this role you will be instrumental in the care of general neurology and neurosurgical patients. Our neurosurgical patients are highly complex. We care for spine surgery patients, patients who have undergone craniotomy and craniectomy for brain tumor resection, removal or debulking and elective aneurysm interventions. Our general neurology patients include those who have experienced acute, stroke, seizure, chronic headaches and general neurological disorders including Guillen-Barre Syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and myasthenia gravis exacerbations

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
