Corewell Health's Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids is seeking an experienced RN to join the 2 South Orthopedic/Progressive Care unit. You will provide direct nursing care to medical and select surgical patients, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
The role requires an Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred within five years), Michigan RN licensure, and BLS certification within 90 days. Night shift, 36 hours per week, with every other weekend.
2 South is a 41-bed Orthopedic/Progressive unit at Butterworth Hospital. 2 South cares for medical patients as well as some surgical patients. As a team member on 2 South, you will see a wide variety of patients. Some of those diagnoses include Orthopedic Trauma, Ortho Oncology, Hip & Spine Fractures, Spine Surgery, where the other population is Progressive Care and Med/Surg overflow. These diagnoses can be anything from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Pneumonia, Sepsis, Congestive Heart Failure, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Drips, Bi pap as well as Post Op heart ablation and pacemaker replacement patients. Teamwork is what keeps 2 South thriving. They rely on each other to get through shifts and keep their staff united. The RN will deliver nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
