Job summary

St. James Healthcare Center, LLC in New York is seeking an experienced RN Supervisor to lead nursing staff, ensure adherence to standards, and coordinate care across shifts.

The role requires strong leadership, supervision of LPNs and CNAs, management of medication administration, MDS schedules, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• M.S./B.S. or equivalent experience preferred
• RN Licensed to practice
• Nursing Experience with clinical competence and strong leadership skills
• Demonstrates understanding of the aging process
• Ability to be self-directive in delegated areas of responsibility

Responsibilities

• Assists in defining, maintaining and interpreting standards of practice.
• Performs required skills (assessment, intervention) according to guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Participates in interdisciplinary committees which influence or determine policies affecting nursing practice.
• Follow facility procedures for admitting residents and transfer documentation.
• Makes rounds on resident rooms to coordinate reports, assignments and breaks.
• Assist the LPN in establishing routines for high-level nursing practice.
• Receives and gives reports between shifts and ensures proper medication handling and counts.
• Coordinates and prepares MDS schedules for quarterly and annual assessments.
• Complete MDS Booklet as per schedule and review all completed MDS and RAP summaries.
• Develops care plans reflecting resident needs and updates them as required.
• Monitors the provision of care in the assigned unit and ensures compliance with nursing philosophy and objectives.
• Identifies learning needs of residents and families and provides required teaching.
• Collaborates with residents, families and the health care team to coordinate care.
• Monitors and documents medication administration and reports any errors promptly.
• Transcribes physician orders timely and ensures implementation as appropriate.
• Reports accidents and injuries and follows through with incident documentation.
• Practices in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory agencies regulations.
• Maintains adequate stock levels of medications, supplies, and equipment.
• Assumes authority and accountability for directing nursing shifts.
• Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator
