Job summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient-centered care through the nursing process in a Step Down Unit at Laredo Medical Center and coordinates with physicians and the care team to achieve optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities include thorough assessments, medication administration, monitoring life-safety devices, and educating patients and families. On-site days, strong teamwork, compliance, and commitment to quality care are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed RN in the state with current practice privileges.
• 0–2 years nursing experience in clinical setting required; acute care preferred.
• Knowledge of nursing process, patient safety and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver patient-centered care per nursing process.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and document findings.
• Administer medications and monitor for side effects.
• Collaborate with physicians and care teams to develop care plans.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in CPR/code team activities.
• Educate patients and families on conditions and post-discharge care.
• Maintain infection control practices and equipment safety.
• Document care promptly in the medical record.
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with policies.
