Job summary

St. Tammany Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse to coordinate clinical activities for Medical/Surgical patients. The role requires applying the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate care, and supervising LPNs, unit assistants, and CNAs.

The RN will operate under the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies, ensuring quality care and alignment with department and hospital goals.

Qualifications

• Board Certified Nursing Program
• Current LA RN licensure
• BLS certification required upon hire
• ACLS encouraged
• EKG basics encouraged within 6 months of hire
• Excellent computer skills required
• Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, holidays and weekends

Summary of the Job

• The Registered Nurse is responsible for the coordination of clinical activities for the Medical/Surgical patient.
• Activities include, but are not limited to, use of the nursing process in the utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care as it relates to the specific needs of the patient.
• Registered Nurses also supervise the activities of Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants and Certified Nursing Assistants.
• Registered Nurses work within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follow hospital policies and procedures.
• The Registered Nurse also complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities.
• The Registered Nurse will support the goals and objectives of the department and of the hospital.

Minimum Qualifications

• Successfully completed Board Certified Nursing Program.
• Current LA RN licensure.
• BLS certified through the American Heart Association required upon hire.
• ACLS encouraged.
• Basic EKG encouraged within 6 months of hire.
• Excellent computer skills required.
• Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, and meet holiday and weekend requirements.

Physical Demands

• Must possess good physical health.
• Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
• Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
• Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
