St. Tammany Health System in Covington, LA, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to coordinate clinical activities for Medical/Surgical patients.

You will apply the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate care, supervise LPNs, Unit Assistants and CNAs, and adhere to hospital policies and standards. The role requires board-certified nursing, Louisiana RN licensure, BLS through ILCOR with manikin proficiency, and strong computer skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36

Work Shift: 7am or 7pm

Full‑time

Summary of the Job: The Registered Nurse is responsible for the coordination of clinical activities for the Medical/Surgical patient. Activities include, but are not limited to, use of the nursing process in the utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care as it relates to the specific needs of the patient. Registered Nurses also supervise the activities of Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants and Certified Nursing Assistants. Registered Nurses work within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follow hospital policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse also complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. The Registered Nurse will support the goals and objectives of the department and of the hospital.

Minimum Qualifications

Successfully completed Board Certified Nursing Program. Current LA RN licensure. Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. ALS encouraged. Basic EKG encouraged within 6 months of hire. Excellent computer skills required. Must be able to work 12‑hour shifts, and meet holiday and weekend requirements.

Physical Demands

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
