Responsibilities

• Provide care in outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic within specialty team.
• Carry out physician orders including injections and med recs; coordinate with lab, infusion, pharmacy, social work, and insurance teams.
• Answer calls/emails from patients and families; schedule follow-ups and coordinate tests.
• Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments and ordering necessary imaging or labs.

Summary:

The RN, Staff SC (Specialty Clinic) is responsible for delivering individualized nursing care tailored to the specific needs of patients and their families within a specialty clinic environment. Utilizing the nursing process as a foundational framework, this role provides clinical expertise that augments the medical plan of treatment established by the specialty care team. The nurse is responsible for assessing patient requirements, implementing specialized interventions, and coordinating care that aligns with the unique clinical standards of the specific specialty service. By integrating patient-centered advocacy with evidence-based practice, the RN Staff SC ensures that complex specialty care is delivered with high precision and clinical excellence.

Expected Care:

This position serves as a resource for the outpatient Hematology/ Oncology clinic. They are responsible for supporting any team that is in need of support that day whether that be Oncology, Hematology, Neuro Oncology, Stem Cell transplant, LACP, or Vascular. Carrying out orders given by physicians including injections, med recs, and collaborating with other specialties including lab, infusion, child life, pharmacy, social work, home health, and insurance team. Answering and addressing phone calls/emails/other forms of communication for patients and families. Scheduling follow up appointments, ordering interventions such as scans, labs, and procedures.

Schedule:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 0800-1600

Qualifications:

1. 1+ years of direct nursing experience
2. Associate's degree in nursing
3. Active, unrestricted TX Registered Nurse (RN) license
4. BLS, PALS
