Job summary

Gillette Children’s RN position at our St. Paul Clinic is a .8 FTE role, primarily Monday–Friday daytime. The RN will deliver family-centered nursing care, educate patients on health maintenance, and help patients navigate the healthcare system according to pediatric needs.

The ideal candidate holds MN RN licensure, BLS, and PALS per policy; experience in outpatient neurology is a plus. Retirement match, tuition reimbursement, and PTO are offered in a competitive benefits package.

Description

We are currently hiring for an RN (Registered Nurse) for our main St Paul Clinic location. This position is a .8 FTE (80 hours/pay period), scheduled Monday - Friday, day shift. Previous experience in Neuromuscular Neurology is a plus. One (1) year of relevant RN experience in an outpatient clinic setting is preferred. Current RN License through MN Board of Nursing.

This position exists to administer family-centered nursing care to patients, advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and/or provide skilled assistance in navigation of the health care system as appropriate to the developmental, cultural, emotional, and medical, surgical, or rehabilitative needs of the patient and their families.

Compensation & Benefits Information

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $39.86-68.13. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees.   • Prepares for clinics through chart prep, which includes review of current and outside records, images, and communication regarding the plan of care for patients.

Family centered care - Provides nursing care and health education reflecting specific patient, family, cultural and community needs.

  • Identifies the learning needs of the population served.
  • Implements an effective teaching plan.
  • Provide specialty focused patient education
  • Employs strategies to promote health in a safe environment.
  • Seeks opportunity to evaluate effectiveness of health education as culturally and developmentally appropriate.
  • Adapts to staffing and clinic workflow needs based on patient care needs and availability of staff, space, and services.

Qualifications

Required

  • Documentation of completion of professional nursing program (RN program)
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license through the MN Board of Nursing
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (exception: Telehealth RNs). If candidate holds valid CPR through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association within one month of employment.
  • Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required for RN's performing moderate sedation. PALS certification must be obtained by the end of orientation, if moderate sedation responsibilities are including during orientation; or with 3 months of completing moderate sedation training.
  • Must be interested in working with people with short-term or long-term disabilities that begin in childhood
  • Physically able to work hours required and meet physical demands of the position.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other healthcare related field
  • Prior nursing experience in a health-related setting
  • Nursing Specialty Certification relevant to the position (ex. Pediatrics, Palliative & Holistic Nursing, Care Management)
