Job summary

Gillette Children’s is hiring an RN for evening/night coverage at 0.7 FTE on weekdays with Saturday/Sunday 12-hour shifts, every third weekend, at the St. Paul Main Campus. The role includes cross-training into the PICU within 12 months and completing training within 18 months.

You will provide direct patient care, perform comprehensive assessments, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. The position requires an active MN RN license, BLS, and pediatric nursing interest.

  • BLS certification (CPR acceptable per Gillette policy).

Job description

We are currently hiring for a 0.7 FTE Evening/Night, M-F 8-hour shifts, 12-hour shifts Saturday/Sunday; every third weekend for our St. Paul Main Campus! Benefit eligible position. Current RN License Required. Minimum of 1 year of relevant RN experience is preferred. PICU experience preferred.

An RN position within Gillette Children’s Nursing Support Team, also known as the Resource Team, offers a dynamic role providing direct patient care across all inpatient nursing units. As part of Gillette’s version of a float team, RNs in this department work in various units, adapting to the needs of different patient populations and conditions. This role requires flexibility, strong clinical skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse care teams, making it ideal for nurses who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy variety in their daily responsibilities. RNs on the Nursing Support Team are required to: Cross train into the PICU within 12 months of hire. Successfully complete cross -training within 18 months of hire.

In this role, you’ll provide high-quality, family-centered nursing care that supports optimal patient outcomes. You’ll conduct thorough assessments, create individualized and evidence-based care plans, implement interventions, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team. You’ll practice autonomously, using sound judgment and incorporating evidence-based improvements into daily work while supervising and delegating appropriately. Ongoing professional development is encouraged, with opportunities to participate in quality improvement, pursue learning, and contribute to a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

Compensation & Benefits Information

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $41.22 - $70.45. Pay is dependent on several factors including number of hours worked within the field, education, and certification/licensure: $1.75weekend/ $2.75 evening/ $4.00 night differential is available for this position. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. Required Qualifications
  • Documentation of completion of professional nursing program (RN program)
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license through the MN Board of Nursing
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (exception: Telehealth RNs). If candidate holds valid CPR for through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association within one month of employment.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification Requirements:
    • All Registered Nurses (RNs) working in the following areas must maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification: Nursing Support
  • PALS Certification Timeline:
    • Nursing Support RNs: Within 12 months of hire
  • Must be interested in working with people with short term or long-term disabilities that begin in childhood
  • Physically able to work hours required and meet physical demands of the position. In certain departments, this will include being part of the off-premise call schedule.
  • RNs on the Nursing Support Team are required to:
    • Cross train into the PICU within 12 months of hire
    • Successfully complete cross-training within 18 months of hire
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other healthcare related fields
  • Prior nursing experience in a health-related setting
  • Nursing Specialty Certification relevant to the position
