Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Short Stay Observation Unit, offering a fast-paced, diverse clinical experience and a sign-on bonus. Nurses will manage post-op, ortho, urology, cardiology, and acute pain cases, guiding patients from ED or surgery to discharge.

Open to new graduates and experienced nurses, with oriented onboarding and mentorship. 3-12 hour night shifts, 36 hours weekly, full benefits.

Qualifications

• RN with current licensure is required or in-state compact licensure accepted.
• Previous RN experience in acute care is preferred.
• Strong patient-care and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Monitor patients recovering from surgery, illness, or acute pain.
• Educate patients and families to ensure confidence at discharge.
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and nurses to coordinate care.
• Document accurately and communicate clearly at hand-offs.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergencies.
• Foster a respectful, compassionate, team-focused environment.
