Job summary

Job description

Summary

The RN - Shift Supervisor shall assist the Director or Manager by supervising daily department activities, facilitating, coordinating, and evaluating unit activities for quality patient care. The RN will mentor and lead staff and may take on additional duties within the scope of the role.

Education / Experience

Associate’s Degree in Nursing and four (4) years of Staff Nurse experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and two (2) years of Staff Nurse experience in the department is preferred.

License / Certification

Active RN license required; BLS required. Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, etc.) may be required depending on the area assigned.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

• Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility for 80% of the workday.
• Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Frequent reaching, use of hands, and repetitive action.
• Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds.
• Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation by phone or in person.
• Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
• Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes; minimal noise levels.
• Much exposure to computer work.
• Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
• Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job‑related tasks.
• Some exposure to hazardous chemicals and occasional exposure to radiation.
