Job summary

Tidewell Hospice, part of Empath Health, seeks a Senior Staff Nurse to lead nursing teams and coordinate care for terminally ill patients in southwest Florida. You will mentor staff, support the Care Team Manager, and focus on comfort and quality of life for patients and families.

Required Florida RN license, CPR, and at least one year of supervisory or hospice experience. A driver’s license and reliable transportation are essential for field-based tasks.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
• Valid Florida license as a Registered Nurse.
• Valid Florida State Driver’s License.
• CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Current IV Therapy certification preferred; must obtain within six months of hire date.
• Strong preference for at least one year supervisory experience.
• Strong preference for minimum of two years Hospice experience.
• Field-based employees must have reliable transportation and proof of valid automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in coordinating team functions with the Care Team Manager, including quality improvements and supervisory visits.
• Acts as mentor and first-line resource to the Nursing staff and supervises Hospice Aide staff.
• Uses assessment and teaching to maximize patient comfort and quality of life for patients and families.
• Coordinates patient/family needs and guides staff to provide preventative and supportive care to terminally ill patients and families.

What you’ll Do

• Provides support and leadership in coordinating team functions in collaboration with and support of the Care Team Manager, including Quality Assessment Performance improvements, supervisory visits and other activities as appropriate.


• An active, formal mentor and first line resource to the Nursing staff and a direct supervisor to the Hospice Aide staff on the Team, providing teaching, support and guidance.


• Utilizes assessment, intervention and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and to enhance the quality of life to the patient/family unit.


• Responsible for identifying and coordinating patient/family needs and for guiding staff to provide preventative and supportive care to terminally ill patients/families.

What You’ll Need

• Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Valid Florida license as a Registered Nurse


• Vaild Florida State Driver’s License


• Certifications:


• Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association


• Current IV Therapy certification preferred. Must obtain the certification within six months of hire date.


• Strong preference for at least one (1) year supervisory experience.


• Strong preference for minimum of two (2) years Hospice experience.


• For field-based positions, employees must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must provide proof of valid automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in the employee’s HR file.
