Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the SAU/PACU team at M Health Fairview Lakes Hospital in Wyoming, MN. The role focuses on pre- and post-operative care for same-day procedures, with a rotating schedule and call requirements.

You will assess patients, coordinate with the care team, educate patients and families, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement while adhering to policy and MN Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

  • Current Minnesota RN License is required.
  • 2 years recent PACU experience or 2 years recent Critical Care experience within the last three years.
  • BLS and ACLS.
  • PALS within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and patient condition according to Perioperative Policy and ASPAN Standards.
  • Coordinate care with health care team and delegate responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Deliver care with sensitivity to developmental level and cultural differences.
  • Evaluate care, adapt interventions and prioritize based on patient assessment.
  • Provide ongoing patient education.
  • Cultivate a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.

Job Overview

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our SAU/PACU team at our M Health Fairview Lakes Hospital in Wyoming, MN!

Our Same Day Surgery nursing staff provides quality and compassionate care for patients before and after same-day surgery/procedure as well as surgeries that occur before and during admission to the hospital. We provide emotional & educational support with preoperative phone calls, during their stay with us and post-operative follow-up phone calls. Because our department has a rapid turnover of short-term patients, our staff must have good assessment skills, the desire to work as a team and the ability to adapt to changing situations.

Schedule: This SAU/PACU nursing position will be working 60 hours every two weeks on the rotating day/evening/nights and 10 hour shifts (start times may vary between 6am, 7:30am and 10am). Schedule requires call shifts during the week (1-2 week nights / month), on weekends (every 6th-8th weekend) and holidays. (Hours of operation 5:45am-8:30pm)

As a Registered Nurse in Perioperative Services, you will be responsible for:
  • Assess patients and patient condition according to Perioperative Policy and ASPAN Standards, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s) who are anticipating and recovering from procedure(s) and anesthesia.
  • Coordinate care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
  • Evaluates care, adapts interventions and prioritizes care based on patient assessment, uses resources to respond to emergency situations.
  • Provide ongoing Patient Education.
  • Cultivates a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.
  • The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
Required Qualifications:
  • Current Minnesota RN License
  • 2 years recent PACU experience (within the last three years) or 2 years recent Critical Care experience (within the last three years). For example, but not limited to: Intensive Care Unit
  • BLS and ACLS
  • PALS within three months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • 2 years recent RN PACU experience (within the last three years).
