Job summary

Florida Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Nursing Program Specialist to administer our resident heroes' activities program and oversee risk management within a skilled nursing facility. The role emphasizes RN licensure, incident analysis, and collaboration with leadership to improve safety and care quality.

The incumbent will develop and implement risk programs, monitor patient safety data, and coordinate with regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Valid Florida Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Three years' experience as a Risk Manager, DON, Assistant DON, or Unit Manager in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Successful completion of employment screening including background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements the facility’s risk management program in compliance with state and federal laws.
• Collects, investigates, and analyzes root causes and trends related to injuries and incidents.
• Maintains data on patient injuries, grievances, claims, and workers’ compensation.
• Completes and reports incidents to relevant regulatory bodies.
• Leads risk management trainings for leadership and staff.
• Performs risk assessments across departments and recommends corrective actions.
